Dynasty (originally known as The Dynasty) is an American professional Halo team. Dynasty rose to prominence in the 2009 MLG season and stayed at the top for the remainder of the game's tenure on the pro circuit.
History
Dynasty was first formed at the beginning of the 2008 MLG season by ThuggishKilla, Milk, TrIcKsDaSaMuRiE, and XiphoZ. Stylized as 'The DyNaSty', the team took 13th place at the debut Halo 3 event - MLG Meadowlands 2008. Replacing Milk with Best MaN, The DyNaSty returned at MLG San Diego, this time taking 24th place, eliminated early by XiT WoundZ. Thuggish and XiphoZ revamped the roster for Orlando, replacing SaMuRiE and Best MaN with BaTMaYnE and bradfox2. They improved their placing slightly, taking 18th place. The DyNaSty would not return for the remainder of the season.
ThuggishKilla revived the Dynasty name for the 2009 season, bringing back TrIcKsDaSaMuRiE and recruiting Assault and eNabLe to fill the roster. They took 17th place at MLG Meadowlands 2009. Assault, Enable and TrIcKs then made the decision to replace founding member ThuggishKilla with MaxPro. This resulted in Dynasty's highest placing yet in Columbus - 9th. TrIcKs was the next to go, and the Dynasty lineup replaced him with Destin, a player who would eventually become synonymous with the Dynasty name. With Destin's first event on Dynasty came the team's first money placing - 8th place in Dallas - including a notable upset over Status Quo and a close 10-game loss to Classic. With another event came another team change, this time Max/Pro and Assault being replaced by a Pure Gangster and TiZoXiC. This lineup turned heads, upsetting Believe the Hype and the legendary Final Boss in the Anaheim Winners' Bracket before finally losing to Str8 Rippin. In Losers', they solidified their win over BtH in the continuation series, clinching the first top four placing for anyone on the Dynasty roster, before a close 3-2 loss to Carbon ended their tournament. Going into the Orlando Nationals as an unexpected dark horse, Dynasty took out Ambush, Darkest Hour and Status Quo before a 3-0 loss to Instinct sent them home in 7th place with $10,000.
Dynasty disbanded after the 2009 season as its members all joined new teams, but the name was revived by the third event of the season - MLG Raleigh 2010 - by the reuniting Destin, TiZoXiC, and APG, who brought in Clutch to round out the roster. UoR Dynasty took 7th place at the event. TiZoXiC was then replaced by Heinz. With a berth in the Dallas Nationals on the line, Dynasty put on its strongest performance yet, taking 3rd place in D.C. to clinch their seed at the pivotal event. At Nationals, Dynasty were beat early in a 3-2 loss to Status Quo, meaning the team would need to make an impressive Losers' Bracket run to place in the big money. They were able to sweep Carbon for top 6, but defeated 3-1 by Triggers Down forcing them to accept a 6th place, $14,000 finish to Halo 3.
Halo: Reach
Destin reunited with TiZoXiC going into the 2011 season, recruiting Snip3down and GH057ayame to round out the roster. At MLG Dallas 2011, under a new format, Dynasty went 3-1 in Pool Play, good enough for 2nd place in their pool. They were upset in the Losers' Bracket by Soul and settled for 8th place. Following Dallas, GH057ayame was dropped and replaced by the returning Heinz. The team's performance again dramatically improved with the acquisition of Heinz, going 4-0 in their pool at MLG Columbus and sweeping Soul 3-0 in the Winners' Semifinals. They were then defeated 3-1 by the newly formed Instinct "God Squad" and 3-0 by Str8 Rippin to end their event with a 3rd place finish. The same roster stuck together for Anaheim, where they went 3-1 in their pool, good enough for only 3rd place this time around. They faced a tough Losers' Bracket run, successfully beating Str8 Rippin, THO Evil and Final Boss before being ousted from the bracket in a continuation series with Fnatic Classic, ultimately losing 6-4 and taking 6th place. Destin then left Dynasty and was replaced by Cloude, marking the first Dynasty lineup since 2009 to not feature Destin. The new Dynasty took 1st in its pool at MLG Raleigh, but lost to Instinct 3-1 in its Winners' Semifinals match. In the Losers' Semis, Dynasty were dramatically upset by THO Infamous, who they had defeated 3-0 in Pool Play, in a continuation series, ultimately losing 6-4 and taking 4th place at the event. This stunning loss was the catalyst for a roster revamp, with Snip3down and Cloud being replaced by FormaL and a returning Destin. The new Dynasty dominated its pool, and this time were able to topple the Instinct God Squad in the Winners' Semis. In the Winners' Finals, Dynasty defeated Infamous 3-0 and in the Grand Finals, sealed the deal with an overall 6-2 victory, marking the first event wins for TiZoXiC, Destin, and FormaL. Hot at the right time, Dynasty went into the Providence Nationals looking for a major payday. Unfortunately, they were unable to get past Instinct in the Winners' Semis. In the Losers' match for top 4, Dynasty were unexpectedly swept by Warriors, resulting in a disappointing 5th place finish for the squad.
Going into the 2012 season, Destin and TiZoXiC recruited Dersky and LethuL, to fill out the roster. At the Columbus no-bloom event, they took out Warriors and Carbon before again losing to Instinct in the Winners' Semis. They were ultimately defeated 3-2 by Ambush, ending their event with a 4th place finish. Following MLG's decision to remove Halo: Reach from its Pro Circuit, the Orlando 2011 event-winning lineup was reunited when LethuL and Dersky were replaced by FormaL and Heinz. Looking for one last shot at Reach glory, the squad took 3rd place at AGL 2 Columbus.
Halo 4
Destin formed a new Dynasty roster for the Dallas Halo 4 Exhibition, recruiting AcE and Reliable as well as a returning Dersky. After an upset 2-1 loss to Reality Check in Winners', Dynasty were unfortunate enough to face eventual event winners Status Quo for top 16. They lost the match, taking a top 24 finish. This would be the final appearance of the Dynasty name for over four years.
Halo 5: Guardians
The Dynasty name was revived in November 2016 by TiZoXiC and teammates BxbyJ, Chaser, and ROB THE TURTLE. They first competed in an online Esports Minor League Qualifier, successfully earning a spot in the league. Looking to qualify for the Fall 2016 Relegation event through the Open Circuit Finals at HCS Las Vegas 2016. They ultimately finished 3rd in the OC Finals, just short of a Relegation spot, and top 16 in the Championship Bracket.
