Gilbert "MuNoZ" Muñoz is a Halo esports player, previously a player for Burger Town. He is notable for his time with teams such as SoaR Gaming, Team eLevate and Severance.
Biography
Gilbert Muñoz is from Wichita Falls, Texas. His first video games were Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Tekken 2-5.
Halo 2
A veteran of the scene the first even Munoz attended was MLG Dallas 2006 where he finished 20th in FFA. He also competed in the 4v4 part of the event, competing with Lvl 30 MLG where he managed to get 17th with teammates Bluefir3, LegendJRG and Hamster.
Halo 4
Munoz reappeared in the competitive scene alongside his current teammate Gabriel as a member of Severence. They would attend the Halo 4 Exhibition at MLG Dallas 2012 taking home 5th place. He then attended AGL 5 Nashville where they would finish in 3rd.
Halo 2 Anniversary
Becoming a member of eLevate in late 2014, Munoz attended the first LAN of 2015, UGC St. Louis, and secured 7th place. They improved slightly at Gamers For Giving 2015 taking home 6th place. Munoz and the eLevate squad closed out the season placing 7-8th at the PAX East 2015 finals.
eLevate made a roster change in the offseason, replacing Spartan with Str8 SicK. The new roster placed top 12 at Iron Games Atlanta 2015, and shortly after, Gabriel announced on Twitter that the eLevate roster was disbanding, making Munoz and his teammates free agents.
Halo 5: Guardians
Munoz's first team in the offseason was iSolation eSports, but he would spend a very short time with the team, leaving to rejoin eLevate. Over the following weeks, Munoz formed a new team with Goofy, Nemassist and Str8 SicK. His teammates were officially picked up by eLevate on December 29, making the new roster official. They eventually qualified for the HWC NA Regional Finals 2016 as the 10th seed. At Regionals, eLevate finished top 16, failing to qualify for Halo World Championship 2016.
For the HCS Pro League Summer 2016 Season, Munoz joined Soul eSports Red alongside Gabriel, JuicyFruit and King Nick. The team ultimately failed to qualify for Pro League. MuNoZ then joined OnlyGoodOnline alongside Chaser, Prototype and MoNsTcR for the Open Circuit. After consistently strong results throughout the season, OnlyGoodOnline were signed by 3sUP shortly before the Open Circuit Finals. In the Finals, 3sUP finished 3rd after experiencing network troubles, not good enough to qualify for Relegation.
3sUP stuck together over the offseason, replacing Chaser with Rammyy. At 2050 Chattanooga, the 3sUP roster minus Prototype and plus Randa competed as Team Randa, taking 3rd place. The full 3sUP roster competed in the Fall 2016 Open Circuit, experiencing successful results. At HCS Orange County 2016, 3sUP finished in the top 8. Following the conclusion of the season, MuNoZ was released from 3sUP before he could give qualifying for Relegation with them a second try. MuNoZ then joined BitterSweet alongside Randa, Brainstorm and v t3ct9. The team was unable to qualify for Relegation, finishing top 6 in the Open Circuit Finals at HCS Las Vegas 2016. In the main tournament, BitterSweet finished top 12.
Going into Halo World Championship 2017 season, MuNoZ stopped competing in the North America region in favor of attempting to qualify through the Latin America region. He formed High Force alongside Dualitat, Gambino and DanyKnight. The team quickly solidified itself as a top Mexican team and was signed by Aztek Gaming, but was unable to secure the single Latin American Worlds spot, finishing 2nd at Gfinity Mexico City 2017. MuNoZ was ultimately able to attend Worlds however, being called upon as a substitute for Shock The World's Tapping Buttons, who couldn't attend due to visa issues. MuNoZ joined Shock The World (which was promptly signed by SoaR Gaming) alongside Atzo, Bullet and Drift for Worlds, finishing top 12 overall.
