Dan "NeXuS" Verhoff is a retired player most notable for his time with Ambush and Believe the Hype during the 2008 MLG season.

Halo 2

Nexus started off his professional Halo career at MLG Charlotte 2007 in as humble a way as possible. His team, BacK 2 BasicS, won only a single game in the Open bracket as they were swiftly eliminated in the first rounds of Winners' and Losers'.

Halo 3

During the offseason between the 2007 and 2008 seasons, Nexus decided to attempt to seriously compete in Halo 3. For the kickoff event in the Meadowlands, Nexus joined Believe the Hype alongside Heinz, Cloud and MudVayne. Here Nexus experienced a remarkably higher placing than his initial event, 9th. For the following event in San Diego, BtH swapped out MudVayne for SsSilent. The new roster finished an even stronger 6th place. Nexus and Heinz then left BtH to join Ambush alongside iGotUrPistola and MudVayne. Nexus's new team finished 4th in Orlando, which would be his career high. Ambush then replaced MudVayne with Cloud and placed 5th at MLG Toronto. For the playoff event in Dallas, Ambush stuck together and repeated their season-high 4th placing, earning an invitation to the Las Vegas National Championships as the 7th seed. In Vegas, Ambush was unable to take a single game from either of the two teams they faced in the tournament brackets, though they did defeat LeGendZ in the consolation match to take 7th place.

During the 2008-09 offseason, Nexus stayed on Ambush as his three teammates from the last three events left for other teams. This lead him to recruit Chig, Gun Shot and TiZoXiC as his new squad. They finished 10th at the season opener in the Meadowlands. Chig was gone after the opener, so Ambush picked up Gilkey in his place. The new Ambush finished 10th once again at MLG Columbus. Looking for a change, Nexus and Ambush replaced Gun Shot with the veteran Mackeo, but this resulted in their lowest placing yet in Dallas - 16th. Starting fresh, Nexus completely revamped the Ambush roster once again for Anaheim, recruiting Arkanum, FeaR and ThuggishKilla. The new squad finished 17th. FeaR was then replaced by Tetra Sh0t for the Orlando National Championships, where Ambush returned to the top 16 with a 16th place finish. Nexus retired after the 2009 season.
