Ronin Esports is an American esports organization which fields teams in games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Street Fighter V in addition to Halo 5: Guardians.

History

Halo 5: Guardians

Ronin entered the Halo scene on May 7, 2017, acquiring the pro-seeded Crowd Pleasers roster of Cratos, Str8 SicK, Spartan, and Suspector alongside coach ShowTime and manager "Lenny" . At UMG Daytona, Ronin finished last in their pool after losses to Team EnVyUs and Splyce. In the bracket, they swept Wise Gaming before being swept by EnVyUs. In Losers, they were able to eliminate DoZe Esports before losing 3-1 to Str8 Rippin and going home in the top 8. After a poor start to the Summer Pro League, Ronin dropped Cratos, replacing him with eL ToWn". Manager/coach ShowTime was also dropped, with Lenny taking over as full-time manager. Ronin ultimately finished the season in seventh place with a 1-6 record, putting them up against potential relegation at the DreamHack Atlanta Finals. In Atlanta, Ronin successfully retained their Pro League spot with a win over Oxygen Supremacy. In the Championship Bracket, they were beaten early by Luminosity Gaming. After sweeps over Open Bracket teams, Ronin were swept by eRa Eternity, featuring Cratos, and took a top eight finish.

On July 29, Spartan was officially released by Ronin. His replacement, Sabinater, was announced four days later on August 2. Sabinater was fresh off a top six finish at his first ever LAN in Atlanta. After a weak start to the Fall Season, Ronin released Str8 SicK, replacing him with Nemassist. The new roster finished seventh on the season, beating only the eighth placed Naventic. At the DreamHack Denver Finals, Ronin had an early win over Supremacy before falling to OpTic Gaming 3-0. In the Elimination Bracket, they were beat early by Luminosity Gaming in a five-game series, going home with a top-twelve finish.
