Jeremy "Stress" Shoy is a Canadian player for free agent best known for his time on Team Solstice and Fatal Ambition.

Biography

Born in May 1994, Stress has been an avid gamer ever since he was able to hold a controller. He started playing Halo during Halo 2's lifespan, but did not start competing until Halo: Reach, attending local LANs with notable Canadian players such as Mad Max, Burton and Krizen. He competed at his first major tournaments in Halo 4, and skipped Halo 2: Anniversary due to being in college. He has since returned to competing and has made a name for himself as one of the top Canadian talents in Halo 5: Guardians.

Halo 4

Stress attended his first major tournament at UGC Niagara 2013, finishing 3rd with teammates Nick Blains, DPS Goose and IrEgption. He competed at his first major American tournament at AGL 7 Knoxville, placing top 24 with teammates Deathy, Sacrifice and Rage. He made a name for himself in the online PGL Season 1, finishing 2nd alongside JesseUnleashed, OmegA and Veldex. Replacing Veldex with Playajoe, the same team attended RTX 2014 as NightHawks. They had a strong event, defeating notable teams such as Reality Check, eLevate and VwS Legendary before losing to Vas'Avi, a team consisting of veteran pros. In the Losers' Bracket, they upset the veteran Reign 812 roster and made the Grand Finals, where they lost the extended series against Vas'Avi 6-3. Despite the disappointment stemming from the loss, Stress and his team proved they could hang with the best with their 2nd place finish.

Halo 5: Guardians

Despite his blooming success in Halo 4, Stress did not compete in Halo 2: Anniversary. He returned to competition with the release of Halo 5, immediately finding success with a new NightHawks roster alongside JesseUnleashed, OmegA and rising amateur Swipuh at Iron Games Daytona 2015. Going into the Championship Bracket with losses only to the daunting Daytona roster and the Elam brothers' Liquid Vibe, NightHawks ultimately took 3rd place after victories over the Cratos/Suspector's lead Crowd Pleasers, The Aquarium, and losses to Fatal Ambition, and two series against Daytona.

Stress then got to compete in a more comfortable setting at the biggest Canadian Halo event in years - EGLX 2016. For the event, Stress joined Fatal Ambition alongside Burton and veteran players Blaze and TiZoXiC. Outside of a loss to Flawless in pool play, Fatal Ambition were nearly perfect at the event, taking 1st place with a victory over Earthroot Gaming in the finals.

Much later in the season after Halo World Championship 2016 had blown over, Stress joined Team Solstice alongside Kaiss, Xrossfade and Blaze. Solstice had a disappointing event, unable to advance out of Pool Play after losses to Weedmaps Gaming, Earthroot Gaming and Team Randa.

Making a minor team change, the squad went ahead and picked up Top Ducky to replace Blaze. They then attended the next event in the season, HCS Orange County 2016. After a loss to 3sUP in the Open Bracket, Solstice were tasked with defeating CPR eSports to qualify for the Open Circuit Finals at HCS Las Vegas 2016. They were successful in doing so, taking a dominant 3-0 win. The tournament wasn't over however, as they were then placed in the Championship Bracket to fight for money and pride. They were first defeated by Ego Rangers before 3sUP returned to finish the job, resulting in a top 12 finish for Solstice.

Solstice made changes moving toward the next event - UGC St. Louis 2016. They replaced Xrossfade and Top Ducky with Nebula and Sprawl. The change showed improvement in their performance, as they ultimately finished in the top 8 at the event, losing out to only to teams of established pros and a game 5 series to Scion eSports.

Following UGC, Solstice made more changes, replacing Nebula and Sprawl with Galaxy and a returning Xrossfade. Solstice had a rough event at HCS Las Vegas 2016 as they were unable to defeat 6S Gaming or BitterSweet during the Open Circuit Finals placing 7th. In a other disappointing showing in the Championship Bracket which they automatically qualified they were again defeated by the likes of Team Liquid and again 6S Gaming.

At the next event, UMG Daytona 2017, Stress had the chance to work with veteran players such as ROB THE TURTLE, Hoaxer, and rising AM Ferro2Clutch. Their team failed to work together as well as they would have liked and the result was a 21st-24th placing.

Trivia

  • Stress is known for being a very friendly tall person.
  • Stress has been shown to be a very avid streamer.
