Jeremy "Stress" Shoy is a Canadian player for Team Solstice best known for his time on NightHawks and Fatal Ambition.

Biography

Born in May 1994, Stress has been an avid gamer ever since he was able to hold a controller. He started playing Halo during Halo 2's lifespan, but did not start competing until Halo: Reach, attending local LANs with notable Canadian players such as Mad Max, Burton and Krizen. He competed at his first major tournaments in Halo 4, and skipped Halo 2: Anniversary due to being in college. He has since returned to competing and has made a name for himself as one of the top Canadian talents in Halo 5: Guardians.

Halo 4

Niagara

Stress attended his first major tournament at UGC Niagara 2013, finishing 3rd with teammates Nick Blains, DPS Goose and IrEgption.

Knoxville And PGL

He competed at his first major American tournament at AGL 7 Knoxville, placing top 24 with teammates Deathy, Sacrifice and Rage. He made a name for himself in the online PGL Season 1, finishing 2nd alongside JesseUnleashed, OmegA and Veldex.

RTX

Replacing Veldex with Playajoe, the same team attended RTX 2014 as NightHawks. They would be faced with a brand new Team eLevate first round, led by JuicyFruit. They would win the series 2-0 and staple their dominance early on doing the same to Reality Check, led by the Suddoth twins Suddoth 1 and Suddoth 2. The next series would be a kicker, a loaded VwS Legendary roster with Sargoth as their captain. They would miraculously take the series 2-1 moving on to the Final Bracket. They would face their biggest challenge to date, the legendary Vas'Avi with multiple players on that team going on to win their first event. NightHawks would go down taking only one game falling to the losers'. Waiting for them in the losers' would be none other than a confident Reign 812 led by Lethul. Just when things got heated, Nighthawks gave the pro roster a hard pill to swallow and took the series 3-2. The Grand Finals would lead to a long night, a looming best of 11 series. The series would ultimately be the end of Nighthawks as Vas'Avi would take it 6-3. Doing more than enough, the boys could go home smiling with a 2nd place finish and pocketing $2,500.

Halo 5: Guardians

Daytona

Stress returned to competition with the release of Halo 5, immediately finding success with NightHawks alongside Jesse, OmegA and rising AM Swipuh. They would be forced to go up against the daunting Daytona roster led by iTz So Frosty. They would end up losing 2-1 and be forced to make a losers' bracket run. That they did, making it all the way to pool play without dropping a game. Stress and friends would be placed in a curious Group C alongside Liquid Vibe, Cutlass Gaming, and Circa eSports. Their first match would be against the Elam brothers' Liquid Vibe where they would lose out 3-2. Stress and crew realizing it was do or die, wasted no time beating out Cutlass Gaming, led by Swish 3-1. Their next match would decide it all. Circa eSports would prove to be no match and go down 3-0 and resulting in Nighthawks advancing to the Championship Bracket. The first match would be against the duo of future World Champion contenders Cratos and Suspector, and their prominent Crowd Pleasers roster. Stress and his team would not be intimidated, taking out the team in four games. Seeming almost unstoppable, to their astonishment Fatal Ambition, led by Burton would take out the happy squad 3-2. It was time to go clutch. Their next match would be against none other than The Aquarium, led by breakout players Commonly and bubu dubu. Stress had finally established clean dominance, sweeping The Aquarium 3-0 in the Championship Bracket. Their final match would end up being a rematch against team Daytona. Hoping to gain momentum based on the fact that Daytona had lost to The Aquarium early on, it would prove to be a fluke. Daytona would 3-0 Nighthawks in an almost alarming fashion. Stress would end his day with a proud 3rd place finish at Iron Games Daytona 2015.

EGLX

Stess would come right back into the scene with EGLX 2016, the biggest Canadian Halo event in years. Stress teamed with Blaze, TiZoXiC, Burton' and owner/coach Jeff360MLG on Fatal Ambition. Day one would be Stress's chance to go big. He would take 2nd place heading into day 2 with his squad. They would go perfect knocking out all AM teams throughout open bracket play heading into pool play. They would be placed in Group C alongside Myth, Flawless, and Legacy eSports. The first match would be against Flawless. The match would go awfully wrong, in a 3-0 loss that seemed to come out of nowhere. Flawless would go 2-1 in their pool to tie with Myth and due to the head to head match up they lost to Myth they would not advance. Meanwhile Fatal Ambition had a mission at hand, they would defeat Myth and Legacy eSports both being 3-0s. This set the stage for an interesting Championship Bracket. Their first match would be against Mercy eSports, making it an easy 3-0. The next match would be just as easy, taking on Vain eSports, led by Xploits and veteran player Moniz. They would be 3-0d as well and Fatal Ambition would cruise on to the winners' finals. Their next match would be against the french speaking Earthroot Gaming, all four players known for their 1v1 prowess and winning the Ignite Gaming League online tournament prior. Fatal Ambition would prove teamwork prevails, taking out Earthroot Gaming 3-0 and advancing to the grand finals. Stress and friends had finally seen the light, defeating Earthroot in a rematch and taking EGLX 2016, only dropping one match in pool play. They would pocket $6,000 and take first place.

Chattanooga

Later during the season Stress lead the new Team Solstice roster consisting of returning duo Blaze, Kaiss, and Xrossfade, in hopes of winning another event.

The Stress Technique

During a scrim against another team attending the looming 2050 Chattanooga, Stress noticed his team had struggled on slayer gametypes, becoming frantic with callouts, leading to poor gameplay. After losing a close Eden Slayer losing 50-40, Stress told the story of EGLX 2016, of how his roster were all a bunch of good friends who just got along and played the game. Blaze confirmed the story. The next game Stress instructed his new squad Team Solstice to not callout throughout the whole game, and managed to win the Truth Slayer 50-25. It would be their first slayer win in some time. This strategy has since been coined the "Stress Technique" by players.

After many online scrims and practices Team Solstice would attend 2050 Chattanooga. The group would make lose out to to Weedmaps Gaming in round 2 but after defeating their losers' round 3 advanced to pool play. They would be placed in Group C alongside new rival Weedmaps Gaming, led by Nemassist, and fresh formed teams Randa and Earthroot Gaming. Their first match would be up against the new American Earthroot Gaming, where after a back and forth series, would fall in game 5. Their second match would be against Weedmaps Gaming, where they wouldn't have any luck, falling 3-0 and going 0-2 in their pool. Their last match would be against Team Randa, led by MoNsTcR. Their luck wouldn't get any better, losing again in another game 5 series. This would end their day with a 9th-16th finish.

Orange County

Making a minor team change, the squad would go ahead and pick up Top Ducky to replace Blaze. The squad would then attend the next event in the season, HCS Orange County 2016 changing their name to simply Solstice for the event. After defeating For Wade led by Hunter Jjx, the notable 3sUP was the only team left to stand in their way to qualify for an automatic trip to HCS Las Vegas 2016. After a swift 3-0 from 3sUp, the squad would fall to the losers' bracket and play CPR eSports for last chance qualification. Luckily, the team was able to clutch up and defeat the AM squad in a dominating 3-0 fashion guaranteeing their spot. The tournament wasn't over however. As soon as they were placed in the Championship bracket, Stress and crew had to face the loaded Ego Rangers right off the bat. After a hard fought battle, the team was no match for the roster, and lost 3-0 falling to the losers' bracket once again. Sure enough, 3sUP had returned to finish the job, pulling off another 3-0 and ending Team Solstice's tournament life with a 9th-12th finish.

Las Vegas

The team is set to compete at HCS Las Vegas 2016 later in the season alongside the other three qualifying AM rosters from HCS Orange County 2016.

Trivia

  • Stress is known for being a very friendly tall person.
  • Coined " The Stress Technique" used by teams in scrims throughout to this day. Players had used this strategy throughout Halo history but it had never given an official name.
