Kory "Symbolic" Arruda is the current coach and manager of Team Liquid. He is a veteran coach, also known for his time with teams such as Cloud9 and Renegades.

Biography

Halo 2: Anniversary

Symbolic emerged as a major league coach in late 2014, when he joined the Cloud9 squad alongside Ninja, Hysteria and Victory X. The team had high standards for coaching, having previously enlisted the services of the veteran Towey at the ESL MCC Launch Invitational. Utilizing Symbolic for all of HCS Season 1, the team solidified itself as a top 4 contender, with tgree fourth place finishes including the Finals. Symbolic remained on the team for HCS Season 2 as Ninja was replaced by the legendary iGotUrPistola. Symbolic coached his team to a personal best 3rd place finish at Iron Games Atlanta 2015, but this was followed up by a 6th place finish at HCS Indianapolis 2015. At the culminating event of H2A, the HCS Season 2 Finals, Symbolic and his team took another 4th place finish.

Halo 5: Guardians

Through the pre-Halo 5 rostermania, Symbolic stuck with Victory X, eventually reuniting with Ninja and bringing in Spartan and newcomer StelluR. The new team was signed by the Renegades organization and first competed at the X Games Aspen 2016 invitational, taking 4th place. With their sights set on qualifying for Halo World Championship 2016, Renegades qualified for the NA Regional Finals, where they finished in the top 8, just good enough to qualify. At Worlds, Renegades very nearly defeated Team Allegiance to clinch a top 4 finish, but Allegiance completed a heartbreaking comeback to steal the series, sending Renegades home with a top 8 finish.

Going into the Summer Pro League qualifiers, Renegades made roster changes, replacing StelluR and Spartan with Commonly and Penguin. The new team successfully qualified for Pro League with a top 2 finish in their group at the Summer Qualifier. Renegades had an up and down season, ultimately narrowly finishing 4th and qualifying for the Season Finals. Prior to the event, the roster left the Renegades organization and was acquired by Cloud9. Unable to win any series at the event, Cloud9 took 4th at the Summer Finals.

During the offseason, Symbolic stuck with Commonly and Penguin, forming a new roster alongside Spartan and Rayne and joining the Team Liquid organization. Over the course of the Fall Season, Symbolic saw his strongest results as a coach yet, with a 3rd place finish at HCS Orange County 2016, a very near event win at HCS Las Vegas 2016 and a 3rd place finish at the Season Finals.

Liquid placed 2nd again at the first event of HaloWC 2017 season - UGC St. Louis 2017, their highest placing at an event with both OpTic and EnVyUs in attendance.
